  • Today I arrived in San Diego where my good friend Sarah of Sarah Maren Photography picked me up at the airport. The first thing I noticed was the horrible smoke in the air. I hadn't realized just how bad it was until I heard that over 250,000 homes had already been evacuated. And seeing the sky (or the lack of seeing the sky) was disheartening (and unhealthy).

We were stuck on I-5 for a much longer than normal drive to Orange County where we hooked up with [b]ecker for lunch. Wedding photography workshopsI have to say that meeting him was such a pleasure. He's so much cooler and fun in person than I even imagined. We spent a few hours eating and chatting before we said our goodbye's - to only be surprised when he showed up later tonight, with Jessica Claire, at our official meet and greet dinner for the Jesh de Rox workshop. The workshop starts tomorrow and is hosted at the awesome Image is Found studio in Oceanside. We caught a few images at dinner tonight of Nate and Jaclyn laughing as stories were shared. I love Susan in the corner laughing! And Sarah snapped this one of Jesh and I at the far end of the table.Wedding photography workshops2 Wedding photography workshops3I'll keep you all posted as the week goes by - let's keep our fingers crossed that the winds die down tomorrow and that the fires can be contained.

  • At long last - MY BRACES ARE OFF!!! It's been over 4 long years and I have to say that I'm ecstatic that I can once again have some of my favorite foods! My dear friends this week treated me to some of my long time favorites:

Kitty bought be a full 1 pound bag of Double Bubble gum. I love sugar-filled gum. I'm a huge gum chomper!
My Braces are OFF!Kerry gave me my all time favorite Swedish fish. She even through the effort of only trying to get the red ones out of the candy bin since we all know that the red ones are the best! Kerry also brought me this shiny apple. Sad to say though I never did get to bite whole into this beauty as I know have a partial permanent retainer built in and the orthodontist said I should still cut my apples up. Dang! I was so looking forward to just eating an apple whole again. But it still tasted yummy cut up into my mini slices. :-)My Braces are OFF!2My Braces are OFF!3Thanks to my girls for making my "braces off" day a special event! I'll get a new picture of my big white smile soon. I'll be working with my dear friend Sarah Whitehead of Sarah Maren photography next week so I'll make sure and have her snap a picture of me.

  • As I have met with several clients recently, new and old, I've found that many of you are consistent blog readers. And I've called a few of you out recently on my posts - Thanks Kate, Oscar, Kelly, and others - you all rock! What I have found out is that there are many more of you silent blog readers out there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share with us all! I love knowing that you are enjoying reading my journal and I would love it if you could comment on whatever strikes you - whether it be an image, a story, or even if you want to suggest a blog topic. If you are new to blog commenting, please email me, I'll hook you up with any questions you may have and get you on your way. I would love nothing better than to create a community of friends and family on my journal to share all our lives.

Okay, I'm specifically calling out Marcia, Luke, and Lani! I know there are others, and I'll be calling more out in the next round. :-)

  • Kelly and I met up with Oscar and Cheryl yesterday afternoon in Old Folsom, just outside of Sacramento, for their engagement photo session. We talked for about an hour first, shared a bit about ourselves, caught up on wedding plans, and just enjoyed each other's company. We headed out at that fabulous light of day and walked around everywhere to find spots for engagement photos. I warned them both to wear (or bring) comfortable shoes - I tend to walk it up on engagement sessions - wherever the light takes me!

Both Oscar and Cheryl gave in to my many whims. We (I say 'we' in the we sort of way meaning it was my idea and they were down with it) we layed in grass, hid behind palm leaves, and we kissed kissed kissed! We all had a blast.

I promised to share a few - and I have to say the last one posted here is my absolute favorite. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do - I see it being printed on canvas! Seriously Cheryl has a great look about her. :-) (Reminded me a bit of Lani's look.) Oscar and Cheryl are getting married in March.

And by the way Oscar and Cheryl, I went home and counted - it's over 80! hahahaSacramento Engagement Photographer
