  • I recently met up with Rachel and Justin and little Jonah...not quite 18 months. This was our only true family photo of the morning. We met at a park and just played.

  • Jonah sure has some great expressions now! Remember our photos at 2 months old?

  • He was fascinated with the sun dial for awhile.

  • We moved onto some toys that mom packed. I don't know any boy yet who doesn't love cars.

  • And phones. Wait til he asks for one of his own!

  • Once Rachel brought out the snacks we had more energy and smiles!

  • I didn't think I was that funny looking...but Jonah must have thought so.

  • Sacramento Family Photography

  • Awwww....really?!?!

  • Sacramento Family Photography

  • Jonah is a drummer. He knows how to keep a beat with mom and dad.

  • Towards the end of our play date, Jonah was a bit tired. But still so sinkin' cute! I can't wait til next time!!!

  • "Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker--his classmate and crush--who committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list. Through Hannah and Clay's dual narratives, debut author Jay Asher weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect teen readers."

I personally thoroughly enjoyed this book. That might sound a bit morbid, but the point of the story is that you never know how your actions (how sometimes your careless actions) can impact someone else's life. Overall, I think the rest of our group thought this was more of a young teen book, which was the intended audience, but I think the lesson learned was something everyone could stand to hear again from from time to time.

This book has since been sold to be a movie....can't wait!

  • Kerry hosted (in May) the book "Can You Keep a Secret" by Sophie Kinsella. I am forever hooked reading anything and everything by Sophie Kinsella. (I've since read the Undomestic Goddess and Confessions of a Shopaholic). Her sense of humor is fabulous. And after having been to London and the UK last year, these books now paint a much clearer picture for me. Again, listening to them on Audible is like half reading/half movie. It's unabridged, meaning every word is read, but you get the way cool dialect of an English accent...which brings the characters to life.

Everyone loved this book! It was an easy read. Funny. Simple. Uncomplicated. I think something we all needed in our real complicated lives. It's what I would call a chick-flick book. Not necessarily the read for the men-folk. But fabulous for us women out there!
