  • Talk about buttercream art, eh? Stained Glass wedding cakes are slowly making their way in the industry. We don't see a lot of these vs. your typical hydrangea cake, but they have Art Nouveau written all over them. With the right cake artist in mind, he/she can turn this mosaic into your dream wedding cake, and having it taste just as good. Since there are so many details and colors already mixed in, you can leave it just the way it is, or add a few touches of flowers here and there. I wouldn't over-decorate this type of cake, since it's already unique as it is.

  • Another "hot night" calls for "hot dogs," accompanied by some Mac n Cheese, dill pickles, and fresh peaches and pears from the local farmers market. Teresa balanced this meal with something simple, cheesy, sweet, and sour. Utilize your time in the kitchen with the old saying "less is more," and turn it into something tasty! There's nothing like a classic, American dinner!

If you missed any installments of Teresa's column, be sure to read all of her family balanced meal ideas.

  • Cheese plates are perfect for several occasions, and even for the mingling stages at weddings. But when it comes to putting one together, do you just throw it all on one plate? The answer is YES, but you must do it the right way, with the right pairings. And this simple process can make you an expert. You must learn the anatomy of a cheese plate, what types of cheeses, and consider the cost, too, because cheese can get pricy by the pound. By the end, your guests will be in cheese heaven.

I'm no cheese connoisseur, but get your cheese on board with more inspirations of Cheese Board Ideas on our Memory Journalists Pinterest page. You can also check out the link below to help you out. Start with a simple layout, and work your way into the details. Be sure to add something sweet, and crunchy to diversify your palette. Choose wisely, and keep it simple. Less is more, and all you need is just that!

One of my favorite cheese is Manchego, paired with almonds, grapes, and any fine, red wine. Don't forget to share your favorite cheese with us #thememoryjournalists, or @memoryjournal.
