  • We had the pleasure of the spending the day with Lani and Shay yesterday and photographing their beautiful wedding day in Sacramento. Sacramento Hyatt Wedding PhotosCory and I started out at their home where Shay was getting ready. When we knocked on the door, he answered looking cool, calm, and collected - he had just woken from a nap! I had gone to wedding rehearsal the night before and knew that Lani might be a bit nervous so I thought it would help calm some nerves if Shay wrote a little note to Lani - which we delivered promptly upon arriving at the Hyatt in downtown Sacramento where the bride was getting ready for her wedding day. Let me just say, all us girls thought his words were super romantic! Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos2Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos3Lani looked amazing! I tore out this ad of Lani's dress so we could take a fun photo of her in her Badgley Mischka dress - the details on this gown were exquisite.Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos4Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos5We headed outside to the Capitol Park to take some family photos. Lani's brother Derek had the good idea of adding a lucky penny in her shoe. We took some individual photos of both Lani and Shay before we had their first planned sighting. The sunlight was perfect!Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos6Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos7Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos8Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos9Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos10The couple headed over the Saint Francis of Assisi in a cool vintage limousine. The sun went down and the light in the church created such a soft feeling. I have to say that they had one of the most romantic first husband and wife kisses!Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos11Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos12Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos13 Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos13Since we had already taken all the family photos, we headed straight away to the Firehouse in Old Sacramento. Each table was named after a character in Casablanca. There were candles everywhere. And the pianist played into the night. Their cake from Village Cake Shoppe was delicious. I won't say which brother this is - (faking) putting his finger in the cake!Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos14Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos15Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos16I'll leave you with this image we took right outside the church in the darkness. I'm so happy for both Shay and Lani and we are so thankful you asked us to share in your day! Have fun when you leave on your honeymoon. You can see more of their Sneak Peak under our Clients page by using the password of "Lani_shay".Sacramento Hyatt Wedding Photos17Some of the great vendors that Shay and Lani used are: the super fabulous Lora Word from A Day to Remember, the ever talented Cynthia Uranga from Eye for Detail Artistry and Sarah Acrich from Cuttings floral, Camellia String Quartet, John Williams (pianist), Kendra Pfeiffer of Pfeiffer Event Planning for stationary, Antique Limousine Company, Rhea Hao of Suede Salon, and Donna Guzman at the Firehouse.

And finally, meet Trina, who joined us for the first time shooting today. We loved having you with us! Trina is working with the Memory Journalists as our wonderful post processor and I can't live without her now!

  • I thought I'd give you all an update on Cory and his car since the accident a few weeks ago. He's still a bit sore from time to time - neck and back issues that he didn't used to have now exist. :-( But getting his replacement car put a smile on his face! And it's the same make, model, and color! Sacramento Honda

  • I was gently reminded today that I haven't posted a table topic in quite a while. So here goes:

What view would you love from your kitchen window?

And Kate - I'll be looking for your reply!

  • Last night, my friends Linda and Nicole and I went to the Women in Business at the Convention Center. It was a benefit to breast cancer research and treatment. It was a wonderful event presented by Total Beauty Experience and sponsored by Sacramento Magazine. We mingled, sampled some fabulous food and wine, and met some new vendors that we'll soon be adding to our referral list!
